About This Event
The next economic Update will focus on the challenges companies face in Raising Finance and the important place of Professional Services in preparing companies in this process. Pro-Sheffield and the ICAEW are pleased to welcome two very well known and experienced speakers:
Peter Garnham – Business Consultant
Following an honours degree in Mining and an MBA from the University of Bradford Management School, Peter has pursued a career in specialised finance, providing advice, loans and venture capital for major international projects, multinational corporations, SMEs and start ups.
Having worked in leveraged finance and venture capital with international and UK merchant banks in the City and Manchester, Peter was employed as a Director of corporate finance with Ernst & Young in the North West, focussing on financial structuring advisory activity mainly for SME customers and the development of risk capital funds to address the “equity gap”.
Peter joined YFM in July 2001 and left in December 2009. During that time Peter was responsible for developing its Venture Finance Division, established to manage funds that are partly backed by the public sector.
Nick Butler - CEO Connect Yorkshire
Nick, having trained in the City, worked for many years as a corporate lawyer at DLA in Leeds, during which time he dealt with mergers and acquisitions, floatations and VC transactions culminating in the award of the Dealmaker of the Decade title by Insider magazine in 2001. Prior to becoming a full time director at Connect Yorkshire, Nick served on the board of a listed plc, which he chaired and on the boards of two SME's, which received VC funding.
